Celebrating Pride Month: Inclusive Diabetes Care for All

Author(s)
Tayla Dyson

At PDC Health Hub, we believe that everyone deserves to feel seen, respected and supported – not just in their diabetes care, but in every part of why they are. As we celebrate pride month, we proudly stand with the LGBTQIA+ community and affirm our commitment to providing inclusive, person-centered care to people living with all forms of diabetes.

Diabetes does not discriminate and neither do we. Whether you live with type 1, type 2, gestational diabetes or another form, our clinic and events are a safe, welcoming and judgment-free space, where your identity, experiences and voice matter.

We understand that stigma, discrimination or lack of understanding can make accessing healthcare harder for some people. Our multidisciplinary team communicate and work collaboratively, meaning you don’t need to share your story over and over, every time you see another clinician. We are working to ensure our services reflect the diversity of our community, through lived experience, advocacy, inclusive language, flexible car options and open conversations.

Our team and our new PDC Collective (a consumer led peer support and advocacy group) are here to support you, advocate for you, and walk beside you – not just during Pride Month, but every day of the year.

So this June, we honour the resilience, strength, and beauty of the LGBTQIA+ community and recommit to building a future where everyone with diabetes feels safe, empowered, and celebrated - exactly as they are.

Happy Pride!
