Adhesive patches that help hold a Dexcom G7, a FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus or Libre 3 Plus sensor or an Omnipod pod in place through showers, swims, sport and sleep. See which patch fits your device, how to put one on, and when sore skin needs a look from our team.
A sensor or pod is held on by its own adhesive. Sweat, water, clothing and knocks can lift the edges, and once an edge lifts the rest often follows. An overpatch is a thin adhesive layer that goes over the top and onto the skin around it, so the edges stay down for the whole wear.

PHOTO NEEDED · Close-up of a sensor on an upper arm with an overpatch smoothed over it, no face, no brand names readable. Landscape 4:3.
The patch covers the edge of the sensor and grips the skin around it, which stops the curling that starts most early losses.
PHOTO NEEDED · Teenager at a pool edge or on a sports field wearing a patched sensor on the arm, face visible, guardian consent. Landscape 4:3.
Swimming, training and a hot Perth summer are hard on adhesive. A patch adds grip where it is needed most. Your sensor's own water rating still applies.

A sensor that falls off before its time has to be replaced, and subsidised sensors come with yearly NDSS supply limits. Keeping each one on for its full wear protects your supply.

A patch is cut for one sensor or pod shape, so match it to the device you wear, not just the brand name. If your device is not here, call us before you order.
Both use the same small sensor, so a patch cut for G7 fits either. We stock Not Just A Patch for Dexcom G7 (20 patches) and Type Strong for Dexcom (20 patches), which fits the G7.
A round sensor about 35 mm across. Our FreeStyle Libre patches from Not Just A Patch (20 patches) and Type Strong (20 patches, or single patches) are made for this round Libre sensor.
Much smaller, about 21 mm across, so a patch cut for Libre 2 Plus is not a close fit. We now stock the Peelz Patch Pro, cut for Libre 3, as single patches in black or a printed design. From 1 October 2026 the NDSS lists Libre 3 Plus for all eligible registrants, so more people are moving to this sensor.
Not Just A Patch makes a pod-shaped patch for Omnipod (20 patches). Put it on once the pod is on and working, and follow the fitting guide in the pack.
Guardian 4 is held with the overtape Medtronic designs for it, and Simplera Sync does not need an overtape. If you want extra hold, we stock patches shaped for Medtronic sensors from Glucology, Peelz and Rockadex. Call us and we will check the fit with you.
Dexcom stopped making the G6 on 30 September 2026 and it left the NDSS on 1 October 2026, with users moving to G7. The G7 is a different shape, so buy patches cut for the G7 rather than using up patches bought for a G6.

Call (08) 6110 0570A patch holds best on clean, dry skin over a sensor or pod that is already on and working. These are the general steps; follow the instructions in your patch pack as well.
Illustration, not to scale. Patch shapes differ by brand and device.
Wash the area, dry it well and skip moisturiser or sunscreen on that spot. Oil and damp skin are the most common reasons adhesive lets go.
Apply the device exactly as its own instructions say and check it has started. The patch goes on over the top, never underneath.
Peel the backing, centre the patch over the device and smooth from the middle to the edge. Press the rim down for a few seconds so no edge is left loose.
At each change, peel the patch back along the skin rather than straight up. Zoff adhesive remover, which we stock in a 250 mL bottle, makes this gentler. Use a new site for the next sensor.
Most people wear sensors and patches without trouble, but adhesive sits on the same areas of skin week after week. A few habits keep it healthy, and some changes need a check.
Use a different spot for each new sensor and patch, within the areas your device allows, so the skin under the last one can recover.
Some pinkness where adhesive has been is common and usually settles within a day or two. Removing the patch gently, with an adhesive remover such as the Zoff we stock, helps.
This can be irritation or an allergy to the adhesive in the sensor, the patch or both. Take a photo, try a different patch brand and tell your diabetes team if it keeps happening.
Do not put a new sensor or patch on broken skin. Choose another site and book a review so we can work out the cause and what to use instead.
Spreading redness, heat, swelling, pus or a fever near a sensor or pod site need prompt medical attention from your GP or an urgent care clinic.
Children's skin can be more sensitive, and children may not say it itches. Check the site at each change and let them choose a patch they are happy to wear, so it stays on.
Book with a credentialled diabetes educator. We look at your sites, your technique and the products you use, and help you find a setup your skin tolerates.
Book a CDE consultWhat people usually ask about CGM patches.
No. The NDSS subsidises eligible CGM sensors, not overpatches, so patches are paid for in full. Buying patches does not change the NDSS co-payment on your sensors.
Put a new patch on with each new sensor or pod. Most are made to last one wear, which is up to 10 days for a Dexcom G7, 15 days for a FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus and about 3 days for an Omnipod pod.
Yes, and a patch helps in the water. It does not change your sensor's own water rating: Dexcom G7 is rated to 2.4 metres for 24 hours and FreeStyle Libre sensors to 1 metre for 30 minutes. Pat the area dry afterwards.
Yes. Members can add patches to their box in the member portal, so they arrive with their other supplies. Each delivery is $15 Australia wide, or free when you collect from Bedford Pharmacy 777.
Take the patch off gently, let the skin rest and use a different site next time. If it keeps happening, or the skin blisters or breaks, book with one of our credentialled diabetes educators so we can find the cause.
Call us on (08) 6110 0570. We can check whether a patch we stock will fit, suggest an alternative, or look at stocking one for your device.
