Podiatry

Comprehensive foot, ankle and lower-limb care from AHPRA-registered podiatrists, with particular expertise in diabetes-related foot health. Assessment, treatment and prevention, with Medicare GPCCMP, NDIS, DVA and private health accepted.

What can a podiatrist do for you?

Podiatrists are university-qualified, AHPRA-registered health professionals who assess, diagnose and treat conditions of the feet, ankles and lower limbs. Our podiatry clinics treat heel pain, arch and foot pain, ingrown toenails, thickened and damaged nails, corns, calluses, cracked heels, blisters and flat feet, with nail surgery available when conservative care is not enough.

Diabetes foot care

As part of Perth's leading multidisciplinary diabetes care team, our podiatrists are experts in diabetes-related foot care. Diabetes foot assessments include neuropathy screening, vascular testing with MESI ABI and TBI diagnostics and PPG testing, and foot risk stratification in line with Australian guidelines, so problems are found early and treated before they become serious. We work side by side with PDC's diabetes educators, dietitians, physiotherapists and exercise physiologists.

General and sports podiatry

We also provide gait analysis and biomechanical assessments, prefabricated and custom foot orthotics, children's podiatry for growing feet including flat feet and heel pain, compression therapy, and management of sports and overuse injuries of the foot and lower limb.

What to expect from podiatry at PDC Health Hub

What a first podiatry appointment in Perth involves, who our podiatrists see, the foot, ankle and lower-limb conditions we treat, how a diabetes-related foot assessment works, and what Medicare, NDIS, DVA and private health cover. Open each panel for the detail.

What to expect
+

Your first appointment runs 45 to 60 minutes. We check circulation, sensation, skin and nail health, treat any immediate concerns, and set up a care routine that protects your feet for the long term. You leave with a clear picture of your foot health and a plan matched to your risk level.

Who podiatry is for
+

People living with diabetes, and anyone with foot, ankle or lower-limb pain, nail or skin concerns, or changes in balance and walking. If you live with diabetes, Australian guidelines recommend a foot assessment at least annually, and more often if you have reduced sensation or circulation.

What we help with
+
  • Diabetes-related foot assessments
  • Nail and skin care
  • Ingrown and fungal nails
  • Corns, calluses and plantar warts
  • Heel pain and biomechanics
  • Custom and semi-custom orthotics
  • Wound and callus care
  • Nail surgery and sports injuries
Diabetes-related foot care
+

Diabetes can reduce sensation and blood flow in the feet, which is why regular assessment matters even when you have no symptoms. Our podiatrists provide:

  • Annual foot assessments with risk stratification in line with Australian guidelines
  • High-risk foot management and pressure offloading
  • Wound and ulcer assessment with rapid escalation pathways
  • Footwear advice and daily foot-care education
Costs, Medicare and funding
+

No referral is needed for private appointments. With a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP), a Medicare rebate of $63.40 per visit (MBS item 10962) applies, for up to five allied health visits a calendar year. We also see clients through DVA, NDIS, Support at Home and private health, and our admin team confirms any out-of-pocket cost before your first visit.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about podiatry at PDC Health Hub answered below.

Do I need a referral to see a podiatrist?
+

No referral is needed for private appointments. With a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP), Medicare rebates apply to eligible visits. DVA and NDIS have their own referral pathways, and our admin team can help you check what applies to you.

What does a diabetes foot assessment involve?
+

We screen sensation for signs of neuropathy, assess circulation including ABI and TBI testing with our MESI diagnostics system and PPG testing, and check skin and nail health. You leave with a clear risk level and a recall plan in line with Australian guidelines for diabetes-related foot disease.

Do you make orthotics?
+

Yes. We prescribe both prefabricated and custom orthotics after a biomechanical and gait assessment, and recommend the most clinically appropriate option for your feet, footwear and activity.

Can you treat ingrown or thickened toenails?
+

Yes. We manage thickened and ingrown toenails with conservative care first, and offer nail surgery where it is needed. We also treat blisters, corns, calluses and cracked heels.

Do you see children?
+

Yes. Our podiatrists assess and treat children's foot problems, including gait concerns, flat feet and heel pain, with an approach suited to growing feet.

Is podiatry covered by Medicare, NDIS or DVA?
+

Yes. A Medicare rebate of $63.40 per visit applies with a GPCCMP referral from your GP, PDC Health Hub is a registered NDIS provider, and DVA card holders are welcome. Private health rebates also apply with most funds. Our admin team confirms any out-of-pocket cost before your visit.
