Research collaboration

PDC Health Hub is committed to advancing evidence-based practice in diabetes and allied health care. We welcome opportunities to collaborate with universities, research institutions and industry partners on projects that improve outcomes for people living with chronic conditions.

Overview

Research in everyday community practice

PDC Health Hub is a multidisciplinary allied health practice with NADC Secondary Centre accreditation, working across ten WA clinics plus telehealth.

Diabetes education, dietetics, exercise physiology, physiotherapy, podiatry, pharmacy and our sleep clinic work side by side, so a research question can follow people across disciplines in routine community care rather than a hospital clinic. We are most interested in projects that change what happens in the consultation room for people living with diabetes and other chronic conditions.

Research interest areas

We are particularly interested in collaborative research across the following areas of clinical practice.

PHOTO NEEDED · Diabetes technology. Portrait or square, at least 1200 x 1400px, subject centred. Hands only, no faces: a continuous glucose monitoring sensor on an upper arm with a phone showing a glucose trace, or an insulin pump clipped at the waist. No brand names or readable personal data. Main detail in the upper half: the blue box covers the lower 40%.

Diabetes technology

CGM outcomes, insulin pump therapy, closed-loop systems, and real-world device data in the Australian context.

PHOTO NEEDED · Models of care. Portrait or square, at least 1200 x 1400px, subject centred. Two or three clinicians from different disciplines reviewing a care plan together at a table, laptop open with no screen content legible. Faces in the upper half: the blue box covers the lower 40%. Signed consent from everyone identifiable.

Models of care

Multidisciplinary team-based care, allied health integration in primary care, and chronic disease management frameworks.

PHOTO NEEDED · Health equity and access. Portrait or square, at least 1200 x 1400px, subject centred. A clinician on a telehealth call from a clinic room, screen angled away so no client can be identified. Warm, natural light. Face in the upper half: the blue box covers the lower 40%. Signed consent from the clinician.

Health equity and access

Improving diabetes care access for underserved populations, culturally safe service delivery, and telehealth effectiveness.

PHOTO NEEDED · Clinical education. Portrait or square, at least 1200 x 1400px, subject centred. A credentialled diabetes educator leading a small group session, teaching model or whiteboard in shot, participants seen from behind or with consent. Faces in the upper half: the blue box covers the lower 40%. Signed consent from everyone identifiable.

Clinical education

Diabetes educator workforce development, peer support programme outcomes, and health literacy interventions.

Working with us on research

What to expect when you approach us about a project, and how we protect the people who take part.

Who can approach us about a research project?
+

Universities, research institutes, health services and industry partners, at any stage from an early idea to a funded study that needs a community practice site.

What approvals does a project need before it starts?
+

Any project involving PDC Health Hub clients, staff or health records needs ethics review before it begins, usually by a Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC), as the NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research sets out. We will also ask how participants' privacy is protected under the Privacy Act 1988 and whether a research agreement is needed.

Do clients have to take part?
+

No. Taking part in research is always voluntary. Saying no, or withdrawing later, never changes the care someone receives from PDC Health Hub.

Will you share client health information with researchers?
+

Only as an approved project allows. We do not share identifiable health information without the person's consent, unless an HREC has approved its use without consent under the guidelines made under section 95A of the Privacy Act 1988.

How do we start a conversation?
+

Email admin@pdchealthhub.com.au with a short outline: the research question, who is on the team, where funding stands and what you would need from us. Our team will be in touch.
