What it means

Some allied health professions, including physiotherapy, podiatry, pharmacy, occupational therapy and psychology, are registered with AHPRA through national boards. Others are self-regulated through a professional body: Accredited Practising Dietitians through Dietitians Australia, and Accredited Exercise Physiologists through Exercise and Sports Science Australia.

You can see most allied health professionals without a referral. A GP referral is needed to claim Medicare rebates, and private health insurance extras cover can help with costs. Many people living with a chronic condition see several allied health professionals who work together as a team.

At PDC Health Hub
PDC Health Hub brings diabetes education, dietetics, exercise physiology, physiotherapy, podiatry and pharmacy together in one team.
