The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funds supports for Australians with a permanent and significant disability. It can fund allied health, such as physiotherapy, exercise physiology, dietetics and podiatry, when the support relates to the participant's disability.
The NDIS does not fund treatment of a health condition on its own, including routine diabetes care, which is the role of the health system and Medicare. It can fund disability-related health supports, which include help with diabetes management, when a participant needs that help because of the impact of their disability.
Participants can have their plan agency managed, plan managed or self managed. Agency-managed participants can only use registered NDIS providers.
Our clinicians can explain how this applies to you and help with the next step, whether that is a referral, a device, funding or a plan the rest of the team can see.
