Smith+Nephew Skin-Prep forms a protective film on the skin before you apply tapes or adhesive devices. People using CGM sensors, infusion sets and overpatches use it to help adhesives stick and to protect skin when they come off.

  • Forms a protective barrier between skin and adhesive
  • Helps protect skin from stripping when adhesives are removed
  • May improve the hold of acrylic-based tapes and films
  • 118 mL pump spray or a box of 50 wipes

How to use

Apply to clean, dry skin. Let it dry fully before you apply your sensor, infusion set or patch.

Important

For external use only. Do not apply to open wounds, mucous membranes, or the face and eyes. Smith+Nephew advises against use on children under 12, as it may cause irritation. It is flammable and the vapour may be harmful, so use it in a well-ventilated area away from flames. If your skin is sensitive, test it on a small area first.

Site and skin advice

Ask our diabetes educators how to use Skin-Prep around your sensor or infusion site. If skin under a device stays red, itchy or sore, talk to your diabetes educator or GP.

Funding

A private purchase.

Questions

Spray or wipes?
Wipes are easy to carry for site changes away from home. The spray covers a larger area.

Does Skin-Prep treat skin reactions?
No. It is a protective barrier, not a treatment. See a clinician about any ongoing skin reaction.

Always read the label and follow the directions for use.
