The FreeStyle Libre Reader is a handheld device from Abbott that shows glucose readings from a compatible FreeStyle Libre sensor. Some people use it instead of, or as well as, the FreeStyle Libre app on their phone.
Abbott matches each reader to particular FreeStyle Libre sensors, so check this reader suits your sensor before you buy. Ask us if you are unsure. Our diabetes educators can set up your reader, explain your readings and alarms, and help you share data with your diabetes team.
A private purchase. Some private health insurance extras policies may contribute towards diabetes devices, so check with your fund.
Do I need a reader if I use the app?
Not if your phone works with the FreeStyle Libre app. A reader suits people without a compatible phone, or who prefer a separate device.
Always read the label and follow the directions for use.
