About this service

A diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and a recommendation for CPAP therapy is only the beginning. Effective CPAP use requires a proper setup, correct mask fitting, and education on how to use and maintain your device, and many people need ongoing support to achieve consistent, comfortable therapy. At PDC Health Hub, our team provides comprehensive CPAP setup and education to maximise treatment adherence and effectiveness.

What CPAP setup and education includes

  • Device orientation: understanding your CPAP or BiPAP machine, humidifier, and settings
  • Mask fitting across all major mask types: full face, nasal, nasal pillows
  • Pressure setting review and adjustment support in coordination with your prescribing doctor
  • Education on cleaning, maintenance, and filter and consumable replacement schedules
  • Guidance on managing common CPAP side effects including mask leaks, skin irritation, and aerophagia
  • Understanding your device data: compliance reports and AHI monitoring

What to expect

  • A dedicated setup appointment to orient you to your new equipment
  • Trial of multiple mask styles and sizes to identify the best fit
  • Take-home instructions on setup, daily routine, and cleaning
  • Follow-up review at 4–6 weeks to assess compliance, comfort, and therapeutic response
  • Ongoing device and mask supply through our clinic

Preparation tips

Bring your sleep study report, CPAP prescription, and any other documentation from your sleep physician or respiratory specialist. If you have been provided with a device by your insurer or DVA, bring the device documentation and any login credentials for the CPAP data platform.

Private health insurance Extras may cover CPAP equipment and setup. DVA provides CPAP equipment to eligible veterans. NDIS may fund CPAP where functional impact is documented. Learn more about sleep apnoea services at PDC Health Hub.

2

Assessment and goals

3

One plan, one team

With your consent, your plan is shared with your GP and with other PDC clinicians you see, so everyone works from the same page.

Common questions

Do I need a referral?
+

Most of our services can be booked without one. You do need a GP referral to claim a Medicare rebate, and a Home Medicines Review or Residential Medication Management Review always starts with a GP referral. NDIS, DVA and workers' compensation claims each have their own paperwork. If you are not sure, call us on (08) 6110 0570 and we will check before you book.

Can I claim a Medicare rebate?
+

If your GP has prepared a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan and referred you to us, Medicare pays a rebate for up to five eligible allied health visits a calendar year, shared across disciplines. Private health cover may also contribute, depending on your policy. We confirm what applies to you when you book.

Can I be seen by telehealth?
+

Many of our services can be delivered by secure video call. Where a service needs a hands-on assessment, such as a foot or physiotherapy examination, we will book you in person at one of our ten clinics.

What should I bring to my first appointment?
+

Your referral or care plan if you have one, a list of your current medicines, any recent test results, and your Medicare, DVA or NDIS details. If you use a glucose meter, CGM or insulin pump, bring that too.

Can someone come with me?
+

Yes. A family member, carer, interpreter or support worker is welcome at any appointment. If you need an interpreter, let us know when you book.
