What the course covers

What you will cover

  • What a CGM actually measures. Interstitial fluid rather than blood, and what that means for the numbers you see. Free to watch.
  • Applying the sensor well. Site choice, skin preparation and the habits that stop a sensor failing early.
  • Reading your own patterns. Time in range, trend arrows, and which changes are worth acting on.

After this course you will be able to

  • Explain what a glucose sensor measures, and why it can read differently from a finger prick.
  • Apply a sensor in a way that makes an early failure less likely.
  • Recognise which patterns in your own readings are worth acting on, and which are noise.

It is not designed for

  • Anyone wanting their own readings interpreted. That is an appointment rather than a course, and you can ring us on (08) 6110 0570.
  • Clinicians after a clinical module. The courses written for health professionals are listed separately.
  • Anyone deciding which sensor to use or how to fund one. Our team can talk that through with you.

Questions people ask

Once you have bought it, the lessons open in your account under Learning. You will need a PDC account, and we will help you set one up if you do not have one. The first lesson is free to watch before you decide.

Do I need to have a sensor already?

No. The course explains what a sensor does and does not do, which is often more useful before you start than after.

Is this the same as seeing an educator?

No. A course is general education. If you want advice built around your own history, medicines and goals, book an appointment instead, or as well.

Can I watch it on my phone?

Yes. Your place is saved as you watch, so you can stop and pick it up later on any device.

Do I get a certificate?

Not automatically yet. Ring us on (08) 6110 0570 if you need a record of completion and we will sort one out.
