Our exercise physiologists are Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs), accredited by Exercise & Sports Science Australia, the sole accrediting body for the profession.

In plain English
Accredited Exercise Physiologists design, deliver and evaluate exercise programmes for people living with acute, sub-acute or chronic conditions, including diabetes, heart and lung conditions, musculoskeletal injuries and mental health conditions.
Exercise physiology is not one of the professions registered through Ahpra. ESSA accreditation is the professional standard instead, and it is the credential funders look for. Exercise physiology under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan is claimed through Medicare item 10953.
For you, it means the person building your programme is trained to work safely with your medical history, your medicines and your blood glucose, not only your fitness.
Keeping it current
AEPs must keep their accreditation current with ESSA each year, which includes ongoing professional development.
If you would like to check an exercise physiologist's accreditation, ask us for their name and contact ESSA.
