If you hold a DVA Veteran Card, you may be able to use our allied health services with a referral, with DVA paying us directly.
In plain English
The Department of Veterans' Affairs funds allied health care for eligible veterans and their families. A Gold Card covers clinically required treatment for all conditions. A White Card covers treatment for the conditions DVA has accepted.
Allied health under DVA is organised in treatment cycles. Your GP, medical specialist or hospital discharge planner refers you using a D904 referral, and each cycle covers up to 12 sessions or one year, whichever comes first. There is no limit on the number of cycles.
Bring your DVA card and your referral to your first appointment.
Keeping it current
DVA reviews its arrangements from time to time. The treatment cycle details on this page were checked against DVA's allied health guidance in September 2026.
If you are not sure what your card covers, call DVA or ask us and we will help you find out.
