Our diabetes educators hold the Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE) credential, awarded by the Australian Diabetes Educators Association and renewed every year.

In plain English
A Credentialled Diabetes Educator is a health professional, often a nurse, pharmacist or dietitian, who has completed further study and supervised practice in diabetes education and been credentialled by ADEA.
ADEA describes the credential as showing advanced knowledge, clinical skill and a commitment to best practice diabetes education. It is recognised by Medicare, private health insurers and government programs.
In practice, that is what lets a CDE register you with the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS), and what makes diabetes education claimable under Medicare item 10951 when your GP has prepared a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan and referred you.
Keeping it current
The CDE credential is renewed every year. To keep it, each educator must complete at least 20 hours of professional development a year, including activities approved or endorsed by ADEA.
If you would like to check an educator's credential, ask us for their name and contact ADEA.
