Before joining PDC, Emma worked within the Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospital Group across clinical and mental health settings, most recently in endocrinology, where she developed a particular interest in diabetes care. She has also worked as a dietitian assistant at Joondalup Hospital, as a care coordinator, and spent five years in the fitness industry delivering group exercise classes. Alongside this, she has built a strong background in mental health through work and volunteering with organisations including headspace, MercyCare, and the Mental Health Commission — experience that shapes how she practises today, supporting people to manage their health while considering both physical and emotional wellbeing and keeping nutrition practical and relevant to everyday life.
Emma was drawn to dietetics because it combines her interest in nutrition science with working closely with people, educating and empowering them to take charge of their health. Her particular areas of interest include gestational diabetes, mental health (especially ADHD and autism), eating disorders, allergies, young people, sports nutrition, IBD, and coeliac disease - with a strong focus on normalising healthy eating behaviours, supporting behaviour change, and preventing eating disorders.
