The PDC Collective(formely the T1D Collective) aims to elevate the voices of all individuals living with all forms of diabetes throughout Western Australia. All members of the group attend on a voluntary basis and through advocacy, education, social connection, and awareness initiatives rooted in lived experience, we strive to create positive, meaningful change for the diabetes community.
The PDC Collective is all about bringing together people with all types of diabetes in WA to amplify our voices, share experiences, and make real change. We’re focused on education, social events, advocacy, and building a supportive, connected community. This group will replace the T1D Collective which we had until recently as we want everything we do at PDC to be inclusive of all types of diabetes.
Here’s what we’re working on for the PDC Collective:
Giving people with diabetes a voice: Making sure lived experiences are heard and reflected in the care we provide and in the projects we get involved in - such as Airport Security Screening advocacy, diabetes tech equity, accessible healthcare, etc.
Running awesome educational events: Practical, relatable sessions led by the community, for the community. The collective will also help shape the events that PDC hosts.
Building social connections: Creating safe, welcoming spaces for support and networking. If nothing else, it's a great opportunity to come meet others who also live with diabetes and truly get what it's like to juggle.
Raising awareness: Using social media, blogs, and campaigns to spread the word, share real stories, empower the community, advocate, etc.
Shaping policy: Working towards positive changes in diabetes care through advocacy and conversations with policymakers, etc.
We’d love for you to join us, share your ideas, and help shape what the PDC Collective becomes and achieves! Contact Tayla for more info - tayla@pdchealthhub.com.au
